MY FAVORITE CANDY

I know this shit is off music topic. Also, its like 3:33 in the AM. But I just wanna letchall know that this candy is my new all time favorite shit. It beats out my other fav candies, Laffy Taffy’s and Reeses’ Peanut Butter Cups (Eggs even).

The candies are called “Rips” and can be found at any 7-elevan store.

One of my buddies from LA introduced it to me. A couple months ago. And I’ve been on a Rips bender ever since.

He told me how when you go to the candy isle in any 7-11 store in LA that these candies are usually sold out. If you check out 7-11′s in North East Philly, you’ll experience the same (cuz my ass is buying em all up)

WEEKLY MIXTAPES

Ok, for the past couple weeks I’ve been distributing Free CDs with new material that I’ve been getting. For now, the only places you can get them are at the shows that I play at.

Throughout each week I get new music from media updates that I subscribe to the research I conduct. And most of the time I don’t get to play them out because of the type of venue.

I need to express myself as an individual DJ and Artist, I need that play time to do it. These CDs are my play time.

CDs will be a single long mix but i’ll have a typed tracklisting of the mix included.

GET UP PHILLY!

This Sunday, May 20th from 12p-4p, We’re doing an awesome Brunch Party in Old City at Marmont. As if their food for lunch & dinners weren’t already bangin enough, Marmont is adding some breakfast items to the menu for the occasion, not to mention a KILLER DRINK SPECIAL >> UNLIMITED >> MAMOSAS & BLOODY MARY’S!!

Where do I come in?? I’ll be supplying the music.

Now for most of us, its gonna be a day that we’re going to be getting over the hangover from Saturday night’s festivities, which means the music I’ll be playing will be smooth, electronic, funky, hip, non aggressive, summer-y, chilled out relaxed vibe for a good portion of the afternoon, in which I will pick up the energy a lil bit later after the food has digested and the unlimited mamosas and bloody mary’s start making you reminisce of the parties you were at the past couple nights.

So, granted… if you don’t over sleep, GET UP  and come to Marmont and help that headache with a lil bit of the “hair of the dog that bitcha” and some really awesome food… & music.

SOUND CLEANING

Shit, it IS still spring aint it?! I know alot of you may have already done your spring cleaning within the past month or so, be it your home, emails, music crates, or whatever… but for me I just  came to a new realization.

I have too much crap on my Soundcloud. Within the next couple of days I’m gutting out my Soundcloud account and only having Original work along with some original remixes that I’ll have posted up.

I want to start defining myself as an artist and with all of the material I have on my cloud, you can’t pin point where I stand in the music industry.

From now til they are down, you can download whatever tracks you like. I’m thinking about having edits available from my website and just keep my soundcloud account strictly original work.

Soooo, this is just a heads up.

Ok so tonight marks a “soft opening” for our Thursday Raven Lounge Party in the city… I don’t want to mention who else is involved due to confidentiality, but basically, what I wanna do here is just have a free-for-all type of night… I will be pushing more of the funky ghetto techno-ish tunes here, but the night is really gonna be up to the crowd and the moment… One of those nights, you just clear the mind and let what plays play. Coming up with segues that will make you be like “WTF, but it works” or maybe it doesnt, but thats the whole point.

So if you’re in the area on a Thursday, “Come on, get frantic with some dope tunes, get so crucnk that it gets blurry, wake up the next day across town in someone else bed and realize that its only Friday…”

Yeoooo… I’m starting a NEW party here in Old City. Techno & Hiphop NEXT DOOR to Redsky @ MARMONT… So if you’re trying to here some classic hiphop throwbacks mixed with tomorrows electronic music, join me at Marmont every Saturday…

BELOW is a track I put together this past Thursday… afterwards I went partying on Penn’s campus that night and found my self at “The Pitt” and ended up having a 4some til the buttcrack of dawn. Pretty crazy, huh?! shiiiit, I still can’t believe it. This song and my night went hand in hand and I hope the same works for you; if not, some denomination.

ILL SMITH (The Fresh Prince of Kick Snare) – WHOA! by Ronnie Dubbz

Damn, it’s been about 12 years since I’ve been DJing. New music has come out, styles have switched and merged  and are always evolving.

I’ve been going under the name “Ronnie Dubbz” for the longest time now, and I feel that it is a name synonymous with top40, hiphop, rock, 80s, 90s dance, mashups, disco, house… pretty much everything.

As much as I love all music, I feel the need to narrow my range and focus on my productions and my sound. That is why I came up with “ILL SMITH : The Fresh Prince of Kick Snare”

I’m very much into the electronic sound of the UK and me being from Philly, might as well use a name that can keep the philly roots but also translate into the style that im currently working on.
